Montana became a state in 1889 (#41, six days after North and South Dakota) but did not acquire a residence for their governor until 1913: for many years the governor was a resident of Helena and lived in his own home. Beautifully restored and, once again, a great tour guide (“Anthony”), who was well-acquainted with our capitol tour guide (“Donna”).
