something that celebrates an achievement

struggling on the last days of the me-march challenge. but the show must go on, as they say.

i've come up empty with this particular "something". then i moved a box in my back room and i see a plastic box with this inside. this is a 'medal' that my sister and i won in 2004.

a friend of ours treated us to a caribbean cruise in 2004. one week of living in a ship sounded like living the high life. as soon as we woke up, we went jogging on the upper deck. then we had a big breakfast. then we jogged again. i'd go to the gym while my sister and our friend went shopping. then we had lunch then i go jogging. we go swimming then i go jogging. we showered and dressed up for dinner. then we go jogging. i never jogged so much in my life compared to that one week on that boat.

anyhoo, the big achievement we had was a 'marathon' of 'name that tune'. we discovered it only on the third night when watching a segment and we were coaching a family who didn't know a hoot about songs. so in the next round, sister and i sat down and joined as a team. two, three notes and we'd guessed the tune or the song and its correct title. the hardest perhaps for everyone was the song that was always included in all the segments. "lara's theme" from the film dr. zhivago was a constant item. on the fourth day we discovered there was also the same game at the lounge on the upper deck, but instead of guessing the music, we needed to give the title of the movie. we were unbeatable. i think we had six each of this medal. i didn't even know i still had one kicking around.

can you name a popular song from the movie "play misty for me"? or the theme from the movie "lovers and other strangers"?

Sounds like you did a lot of jogging on that cruise! Also sounds like we need you for our pub trivia team - we never do well in the music round! :)

the medal seems to bring back a great memory - you're probably a medal-winner in more ways than you think ~

@inertie - thank you, pinar; so glad you like it.

@alia_801 - thank you, alia. yes, i did a lot of jogging. the drawback of a cruise is that you get bored being confined to just that space (it was a big space, kinda like being stuck in a really large mall!) and food was in abundance as well as drinks, mostly for free. so i made sure i exercised after any heavy meal or snack!

@ruthmouch - thank you, ruth; much appreciated.

@claireuk - thank you, claire. yes, back then it was quite moving. these days it puts me to sleep as it's so calming to listen to, and RF's voice is so apt for it.

@eniaral - thank you, laraine. back in the old country my father keeps all the medals i earned in school.
