the other day, i was browsing your albums and i came upon a posting by
@maggiemae . it was about a poem that her husband john read at some event and i requested that she post it, and she did.
that post came to mind a song that was popular in the old country when i was still a young girl (perhaps). i posted on my comment a youtube link to the song "shame and scandal in the family".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD6fuKeXa8U and since then, the darn song never left my head. i tried to replace it with another song but it didn't help. so here's hoping i would get rid of it here.
Woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
In Trinidad there was a family
With much confusion as you will see
There was a mama and a papa and a boy who was grown
He wanted to marry and have a wife of his own
He met a young girl who suited him nice
He went to his papa to ask his advice
His papa said, "Son, I have to say no
That girl is your sister but your mama don't know"
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
A week went by and the summer came down
And soon the best cook in the island, he found
He went to his papa to name the day
His papa shook his head and this time he did say
"You can't marry this girl, I have to say no
That girl is your aunty but your granny don't know
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Now, he went to his mama and covered his head
He told his mama what his papa had said
His mama, she laughed, she said, "Go man, go
Your daddy ain't your daddy but your daddy don't know"
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family!
:-P
go ahead, have a listen.
Your funny photo is darling! Merry Christmas, m'friend!
