i recently lost a seiko wrist watch which i have had for almost forty years. it was given to me together with this citizen watch. that seiko wrist watch had weathered three accidental washing and drying over the years and a dip in a muddy puddle. that was the second watch i lost this century.
that forced me to spend almost a hundred dollars to have this one cleaned, reconditioned and bought a new strap. i had been avoiding to wear this as i go through straps so fast. and mind, the straps aren't cheap ones. this one needs a special strap which aren't available anymore so the watch repairman had to cut the expensive strap i bought so as to fit this timepiece and seeing this now, i am not happy with that sloppy job he did. but what to do? this watch measures on the outside frame 1 cm x 1.5 cm. i like small wrist watches. a lot of people wonder how i can tell time with this.
a great shot of this once beautiful watch. Good that you had it sorted out and that you can wear it again. I am also still wearing the same watch which is about 40 years old ;-)
Too bad the repairman did not do a good job fitting the strap on the watch. But you at least handle a small watch to wear...and probably get upset all over again at the repairman every time you check the time. Alas.
That is so tiny. I do wonder how you tell the time. Shame you are not happy with the strap. Hope it looks better in real life size. I confess, to thinking when I saw this, that it was still with the old strap.
My wife once put my vintage gold watch in the washing machine together with a bathrobe. When I came back home she attacked me for causing the tragedy. I didn't remember I had left the watch in the bathrobe pocket and she confirmed: «You fool, you left it on the table in the entrance!» «So what?» «So to avoid theft I have hidden it in the bathrobe pocket, then I forgot it was there when I put the robe to wash...» «Ok, ok, my fault...»
I imagine the strap doesn't look quite this bad in Not Macro Vision! It is a beautiful watch and old eyes aside seems to be easy enough to me to read! Fabullus photo of it!
Mmmm, are you sure he wasn't a butcher, he's butchered that strap for sure. How disappointing. I only gave up on my treasured solar-powered Seiko when I couldn't see the time properly, so hang in there. I now have a 'mens'' solar-powered Citizen and can see the time again.
Such a pretty watch! And the butchered band has 'character'. (That is what my mom used to say- lol!)
Thank you for entering this macro challenge and it is 'time' I got the voting set up!
