a new month, a challenge by summerfield

a new month, a challenge

here we are, the first of may, the fifth month of the year. i have no specific theme for this month thinking since there will be an abundance of flowers i can practice using the macro on the new camera. but @atalitude posted a challenge on friday on the discussion board, challenging those who read the post, to post selfies throughout the month of may. i sort of accepted the challenge, but today i realized it's kind of frightening, not just for you but for me as well, to see a picture of me everyday for a whole month. and i doubt i can keep at it, really.

so, i thought i'd make a compromise by posting photographs and inset my selfie on them. so, i had to learn, fast, how to do this with my paint program. i promise the next one's going to be ultra small so you won't notice it.

i took this photograph this morning when we went to hear mass at st. isidore in bloomingdale, illinois. the church has a nice garden at the back and a small cemetery. the churchgrounds are magnificent during the summer.
I thought at first it was an error. After reading your description, now I understand why there's a photo of you on the wall. I might accept the challenge but not for this week coz I'm gonna showcase some of my portraiture photos. =)

It will be fun to see how you incorporate the selfie into each photo- Good challenge.

@gbert204955 - go for it, young man!
@jannkc - come on, jann, do it, too! it should be fun! my creative mind is already on ovedrive as to what and how i'm going to do this for a whole month, seeing that may has 31 days. i have not the slightest idea about processing or editing, i have no other program except paint (how i wish i have adobe like in my old laptop that died on me!). so, how about it?

Take a picture of you with the flowers! Your hand touching them still even counts as a selfie :P

@gbert204955 - actually, i chose to put the inset right on that spot because i wanted to cover the tap on the brick wall and the hose connected to it. looking at it now, it looks a tad silly to have done it. oh, well, i am still away from home so my limited creativity (that i thought was on overdrive) is on vacation. :-)

Love the flowers, they are Dutch (alltough the Turkish people say they are Turkish....). And love you little selfie.
Is this theme something you decide by yourself or is it a theme of the project?

@ilseal - every spring, in ottawa, the capital city of canada, we have this beautiful display of tulips. during world war 2, the dutch government sent your queen to stay in canada so she will be safe here and as a token of appreciation, the dutch gave the canadians a lot of tulip bulbs. and of course, canadians in general love tulips. i myself am partial to yellow and white tulips. i just love them. here's a link on how the tulip festival came to be.

when you have a spare time, i hope you will enjoy reading the history.
