page 110, The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
the word in the first line that i chose was "cookbooks". i'm taking up the book-word-challenge that i found this morning on the discussion board. the link is here: http://365project.org/discuss/general/8667/book-word-challenge
so here's a photo of some of my cookbooks. some of them are really old (but you can't tell because i take good care of my books) and i hauled them with me from the old country to europe to the middle east before coming to canada twenty-some years ago. in every book, i have a favourite recipe. i particularly love the 'better homes and gardens' series; i learned how to cook and bake from those books.
Beautiful composition!! I love to read cookbooks, but I'm not a good cook. Still, I haul my share around too whenever we move. You've got some really interesting ones there, summerfield. Nice collection.
wow, this is soooo weird. i was reading this yesterday and giving it some consideration and thinking of my cookbooks. have a massive collection of. . .wait for it. . .better homes and gardens and best baking. i love to cook and then never use a book after i make something. love you photo. nice capture.
@karenann - some books are really worth carting or hauling around the globe. :-) one of my guilty pleasures. thanks, karenann.
@catsmeowb - a massive collection of better homes and gardens?!?! now i really really like you! two years ago, i found a couple of the books i used to own, at a garage sale. did i grab those right away! if you have the baking or cake book in your collection, i'd like to get the recipe for 'lady baltimore cake' (oh, i'm such a shameless so-and-so for asking right here on 365! LOL!). heck, i ain't foregoing this chance. thank you, camille.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i just hope i don't choke. i've done quite well on challenges (according to my friends here on 365 :-)). there's another book challenge going on, but i thought your challenge is would make me think and stress myself more (note my tags!).
i looked for the lady baltimore cake in the bhg cook books and did not find it so i checked out allrecipes.com, my go-to site when i can't find something and there it was. i have never made it so am not sure if it is what you are looking for. have you ever used an online recipe site? i love them because you can save recipes into a box and never lose them or have to write them down.
@catsmeowb - i found the LB cake recipe that i used to make. when i make it again, i'll be sure to post it here. maybe in december my theme/challenge will be food. thanks, camille.
@steeler - thanks, howard. see that "casserole" book? i've done 80% of the recipes in that book.
i have a book called "the joy of cooking", thick and heavy, but it used to be my bible when i used to cook a lot, when i was in the middle east. it has everything, from appetizer to soup to main entrees and desserts. i can't cook for a large number of people as i prefer to serve a sit-down dinner; up to 12 people i can handle. now i get all stressed when i have people over, better to have everything catered.
@pamfromcalgary - thanks, pam. the only thing i learned how to make in home economics is donuts. i don't even like them.

@cscecil - hahaha! i'm not a great cook. but i make a mean baked salmon with crab topping. oy, yummmy! thank you, CS.
@espyetta - good for you, and look forward to your posts on this challenge.
