page 115, The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
the word this time is "collection". i am almost tempted to switch books but it's just not in me to walk away from a challenge. so methinks i will just make the most of it.
i finally got to the beaches as the sun was rising from the waters. wow! did it blow me away. and then the realization that i shan't be able to post any of it today. aha! now i realize that is what the 'ace' is for. but i want to make good on my promise to myself that i will go ace when i've done the 365.
back to my trek this morning. i caught mists at the park, too. but i will post those in my blogspot later on ( http://one-photograph-a-day.blogspot.com/). the pier was being repaired, refurbished, prettified, or whatever else you can call it and there were big machineries all around. there was a crane from which this collection of thingamajiggs was hanging and the morning sunlight was hitting on those. i had the brutal imagination of one of these falling off on me and my camera and i would think both of us would be toast if that had happened. i don't know what these thingamajiggs are called, maybe some of you know and perhaps you can enrich my world a little bit by letting me know what they are.
beautiful weather we are having in toronto. today was actually 'warm' and had to take off the sweater on my walks. as you can see it was a cloudless sky; windless, too. makes us wish that we have gorgeous weather like this all year round. that polar reversal is really probably maybe happening slowy.
happy thanksgiving to our canadian friends, wherever you might be. and i want to tell you, folks, whether you're observing thanksgiving this weekend or next month, that i am very thankful to have met you all here on 365.
update: as per @patticake these are shackles. thank you, patti.
Quite the collection, summerfield. I don't know what they are either! But I love the shot. Great lighting and love the rusty stuff. Nice angle going on there too. Hope that your day was a great one friend.
Lovely, I was looking for the shadows, but I couldn't find. After realising there was no mural, I noticed it was the sky, the blue blue sky Mss. summerfield.
Great collection of thingies against the blue sky! (Remember there are three wildcard days allowed in the challenge, in case you get a brilliant pic that doesn't fit with your word too - or if you get an impossible line of words :) )
I love this image of shackles against the blue sky. Yes...they are shackles - I am a former merchant mariner and I used to deal with shackles on an hourly basis :-) shackles are used to join two different things together on a very secure yet flexible and temporary basis, such as a key point of the part of a structure (ship, pier) and a 'stay' such as a wire rope that is there to join and support another part of the structure (such as a mast or ships' rigging). so great image of shackles against that wonderful blue sky ;-)
@bk12racing - thank you, mike. @karenann - i was going to process this, but i wanted to keep the colour of the sky. picnik either turns it too blue for my liking or lighter. so i decided to sooc it, thus you can see the tinges of rust on the metal. thank you, karenann.
@bkbinthecity - thank you; happy thanksgiving to you and melody.
@alia_801 - hehehe. this book i chose has impossible lines of words. but, yes, i'll keep the wildcards in mind. thank you, alia.
@patticake - thank you for IDing the thingamajiggs, patti. yours must have been an exciting adventure. we'll have to sit down and talk some day about your experiences :-). thanks again.
@altadc - thanks, alta. four more weeks and i will see the blueness (or the smogginess) of manila skies!
So what exactly is your book challenge? You pick a word from each page? Is this challenge written up on here in discussions? I may have to do it as the weather gets cold and my bug and butterfly friends go away.... I read alot (or try to) so this sounds like a good challenge! Nice pic of the shackles!
@summerfield I just read it and printed it out...think I will do this. I have three album slots and it is fall and all my plant shots and creatures shots are not going to be possible....sounds fun to me!
