the sky was a clear blue in toronto and the sun was shining so brightly that even though it was freezing cold, i walked over to the lake at lunchtime. was surprised that the water was so blue and sparkly. there was hardly anybody on the boardwalk, just a few joggers. even the seagulls were nowhere.
that changed, however, when a woman holding two heavy grocery bags walked up to the edge of the boardwalk and started to throw food scraps on the water. i was going to tell her off because there's a sign that prohibits feeding the birds and she's actually throwing stuff on the water. but the birds swarmed the water to catch the food scraps. but i thought i'd take some pictures of the birds first because there were so many! as i was snapping away, i heard a man's voice yelling "more! more!" and i saw this man holding a little camera and shooting at the birds. so his photo set up was my random photo shoot. tee-hee! but i'm wary of too many birds around me because heaven knows what they've done to me in the past - they thought i was a porta-toilet!
i still have a lot of photos from my vacation that i have to sort through. can't be looking back too often or too much of the time. so when i see another good shot, i'll post it as i deem appropriate.
I love all the birds in the picture -- and I can feel the chill of the wind and water just looking at this, you brave soul, you!! How funny that you walked into somebody else's photo setup!!
Keep on posting vacation shots -- when you feel like being back there. It's hard to reconcile the two worlds, isn't it?
@catsmeowb - wow, thank you, camille. you're so kind. it's not so bad today, but i wasn't able to leave at lunch because i had a two-hour meeting. there goes the challenge.
@cscecil - thank you, CS. you're so kind. and thank you for the kind words, too. it's difficult to imagine i once lived there and didn't belong. i will probably stick out like a sore thumb in there now more than ever. but i don't feel any joint pains whenever i go there. hahaha! that's the difference!
I really like how random the birds are and the ferry in this one. And I'm chuckling as I imagine you getting ready to give this woman a piece of your mind and then stopping yourself and pulling out the camera instead!
@sunnygreenwood - lol! anne, whenever i see birds flying above me, the hood of my jacket comes up automatically, especially when i'm on my way to work. might be quite embarrassing to tell the boss: sorry, i got pooped on by a bird so i had to go back home and shower! thank you, anne.
@olivetreeann - i never had so many bird shots before. but i still got all flustered because all i wanted was to take one that is in full flight and there was just too many. thank you, ann.
What a wonderful opportunity for a shot , I love this one with the birds . I have enjoyed looking at all your lakeside pictures its amazing how different they are.
@pamfromcalgary - i hope so, too, pam. i could've gotten more pics but it was too damn cold my hands were aching from the cold. thank you, pam.
