365 days. 365 photographs posted (plus a bit more if you count those that went into collages); all posted on the day (except in may when i was out with a visiting friend, and in june when the site was down); mostly taken on the same day of posting. it was a self-imposed discipline; now, if only i can apply that to other aspects of my life.
i was going to do a levitation photo or cloning for my 365th post but i couldn't get either of them right (yet) so that would be for the next time. yes, folks, there is going to be a next time. i've promised myself that i would only go 'ace' when i shall have completed the year and i have done it so now i am ace! i don't know what really that means, but those 3 letters are now attached to the summerfield. so for my 365th post, i thought i'd put together all 364 postings and make a photo mosaic of a self-shot. not very original but a last minute move so i hope you're not disappointed.
in the new year i aim to take better photographs by trying to know my camera more (maybe read the darn manual cover to cover. good idea?). to that end, i have started using my minolta slr again. also, i should like to be a tad more aggressive in processing although i must say i am not a big fan but understand that some photos just need to be processed. i also would like to fine tune my "sneaky" shots, and when that is not possible, be a little bolder and ask for permission. i'd like to really learn the levitation and cloning thingies so i can show off to the grands.
the most valuable reward i got by being on this site is the people i have 'met' and who have become my friends, and from whom i have learned a lot during the year and know will learn from still :-) you have commented on my posts regularly, giving me encouragement, and those mean a lot to me. i cannot thank you enough. your photos sparked ideas for my own photos and sometimes served as inspiration for my short stories (aha! you say). your photos also made me understand better and appreciate the beauty of my neighbourhood, my city, even the old country. through your photos, i have learned to look at everything in a different way and seeing its potential for post of the day. i should like to meet some, if not all, of you in the near future and see the places where you take your photos, but i don't want to insist if you don't want to lest you get a restraining order issued against me.

Well congratulations Vikki!!! I'm so happy for you and even happier to know your name now! There was an old commercial (and I can't even remember the product now-so that's old) that said, "You've come a long way baby!" Well, you have and I've been privileged to see part of that journey! I've enjoyed your quit wit, straight shooting, to the point writing, and lots of your pictures-especially the vacation ones. And we will definitely hook up in 2012- whether it's at Niagra, Toronto or where ever and I'm really looking forward to that! I have a feeling you'll have me laughing all day! You look even more beautiful enlarged!! Vikki? I thought that your first name was summer! One should never assume . . first thing that I was taught in my college English class. Congrats on your 365 and becoming an ACE. I think that you shoot amazing photos, sum . . ah, Vikki. But then if you want to grow (as I do too) then I guess one must read the manual. I don't see myself doing much of that yet. lol Am so VERY happy that you're staying on and I can learn from you. @olivetreeann - virginia slims! that's a really old commercial as i was still a teenager when that was popular in the 70's. i, too, looked at all the photos i've posted and laughed at the first few weeks' photos. i think the improvement really started in june when i took on the self challenge photographing the CN tower. the creative hat got into tatters over that one. ann, thank you. you're one of the many whose critiques i value. and yes, i look forward to our meet up next year. and yes,this was last minute thing, had to learn how to do it fast. i really thought of doing levitation or cloning three days ago but there's just too much work involved and i didn't want to put in a half-ass post. happy new year to you and your family.

@danig - ducky, pelican, they both have feathers. or they're both plastic/rubber/synthetic, whatever. oh boy, we don't know our birds, that's probably why i'm not shooting birds. hahaha!
@summerfield haha me too!! I'm hopeless. I do know a seagull tho' and that is why it is the only bird you will see me shoot. (not literally, photographically)

@pamfromcalgary - pam, i will miss you terribly. i decided to continue on because this keeps my creative and artistic juices flowing. i love the challenge of coming up with just one post. the feeling is like a little child who comes running home to show everyone in the family a drawing done at class, the picture may not make sense, but creating it by herself gets one excited and seeing the smile of approval of the parent makes the child feel special. unlike a child though, i can accept being told what is wrong with my work and i will use that to get better.
it has been a pleasure knowing you in here, and i have had even more pleasure of seeing and admiring your brilliant photographs. i will eagerly await your next post whenever it may happen. you are such a natural at this, you have a good artistic eye for a set up and of course you have those wonderful opportunities that await your photographic interpretation. i will miss your daily encouragement but know that i will continue to strive to do better.
