and one clear call for me!
and may there be no moaning of the bar,
when I put out to sea,
but such a tide as moving seems asleep,
too full for sound and foam,
when that which drew from out the boundless deep
turns again home.
twilight and evening bell,
and after that the dark!
and may there be no sadness of farewell,
when I embark,
for tho' from out our bourne of time and place
the flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my pilot face to face
when I have crost the bar.

tried to get a nice sunset shot, but i decided to do it far too late in the afternoon. before i could get to the place where i wanted to shoot, the sun was going down fast so i had to settle for the baseball park near the lake. there was a nice reflection on the puddles which had resulted from melted ice/snow from a few days back.
the days are indeed getting longer and pretty soon this baseball park will be filled with the din of young people playing and the grass will be a lot greener and those tree skeletons against the setting sun will be full of leaves again. but it is still winter. it's still cold and drab and we have not had the obligatory snow storm yet so winter is dragging on.
I look at the trees and there are no leaves- not even a hint of a bud. At night I'm still pulling out the comforter and bundling up. So I know it must be winter. But it was 65 degrees today and I only wore a sweater while I took down the outdoor Christmas lights. Something is wrong with this picture! Beautiful shot! The poem suits it well. But someone has definitely confused Winter. (o:
@olivetreeann - every time i see the sunset for long, this poem just pops in my head. i love this poem along with "invictus" by william ernest henley. yes, the season is screwed up big time. on my first winter here in canada there was only a light dusting of snow twice but on the first day of spring we had a major snowstorm. go figure! thank you, ann.
It's as beautiful in a puddle and it would be in a lake, summerfield. And even more interesting, I think. Awesome light and beautiful silhouettes. Winter is going to come along when we least expect it this year, I think. Love the poem, by the way. :)
Lovely shot....there is a lot to look at after first glance...the background is so interesting in addition to the reflection in the puddle. The tower puncturing the pink cloud....the sun lighting up the tree....gorgeous!
@karenann - thank you, karenann. when that winter wakes up, i'm afraid it would be nasty. but i hope not.
@danig - thank you, DG. are you still in melbourne?
@steeler - thank you, howard. yes, from my favourite vantage point, that tower is very much visible.
@carme - thank you, carmelia. much appreciated.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i'm so glad you're back.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille.
