meet monsieur leapin. or mr. leapin. or you may call him just plain leapin.

i must admit, i don't have a pet. i can't have anything with fur or shedding fur, or smelling other than food. fish, well, yes, i suppose i can have a fish but that fish will die in a matter of days because i'd forget to feed it. birds fall into the categories of fur and frankly i can't handle other bodies' poops.

so, my long time pet is monsieur leapin. i don't know what kind of animal mr. leapin is because i can't figure it out and i suppose mr. leapin himself doesn't know what he is. mr. leapin and i have been together for well over twelve years. he minds his own business and doesn't give me a dressing down or patronize me or argue with me. well, he knows better. and i to him. mr. leapin is soft and cuddly and i can just throw him in my purse and won't be a problem with weight or space because he is almost weightless and he can be folded into something like a small ball and he won't complain. but that hasn't happened because i prefer to leave him at home lest i get "the look" from customs people who'd inspect my purse to find a green something, and worse operate on mr. leapin just because they might suspect i'm carrying some loose diamonds inside him.

i like mr. leapin's green shade. he knows i chose him also because he bears a striking resemblance to the cookie monster on sesame street with whom i've been in love for the longest time. but mr. leapin doesn't eat cookies, he leaves that to me.

these days, mr. leapin stays in darren's bed, on top of that spongebob square brief character pillow. he doesn't mind. he prefers to be alone sometimes. we are alike that way.

thank you very much, folks, for your views and comments.
It isn't easy being green... :)

Like the picture, a fine fellow mr. leapin is. he's quite photogenic too.

@bkbinthecity - well, maybe one day i can send mr. leapin over to edmonton for a short vacay and mingle with pets like himself. :-) thank you, brian.

@pandorasecho - i can't blame you for adoring him, dixie. everyone who sees him gets to adore him. thank you, dixie.

I think he'd probably like a visit from Little Wahoo. They could talk about all kinds of things!

Hello, Mr Leapin, pleased to meet you! Just for bearing a resemblance to Cookie Monster alone, I'd say he's a cool guy. (I love Cookie too.) Awesome portrait of Mr Leapin here! 8)

i was expecting leapin, being green and all, to be a frog ... maybe in a former life

I'm liking this guy already. He's an independent sort of pet, doesn't have to be fed or walked. And listens to all of your problems without giving unwanted advice. Hmmmm...I think that I need to borrow, Mr. Leapin! Don't let those customs people near him . .

@olivetreeann - i was thinking about that last night after i've put away my gears. maybe on the weekend when the boys are here. they both love mr. leapin. and i'm sure little wahoo would be pleased to meet him. thank you, ann.

@myautofocuslife - he's pleased to meet you and everybody. thank you, livia.

@sunnygreenwood - at first i also thought he was a frog, but now i'm not so sure. he wouldn't tell me either! thank you, anne.

@karenann - mr. leapin fits in any size envelope starting from 6 x 8. just let us know and he'll be off to see you. thank you, karenann.

@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. just one lighting fixture was on and it was right above him.

So cute!!! Can I ask you how you got the background so black and Mr. Leapin so light?? Lighting is my weakness!
February 18th, 2012
@sbb1980 - i just have the normal living room light and a lampshade which is right beside the bench where i propped mr. leapin. i used my black woolen wrap for background. then i adjusted the overexposure button to -5. my canon came with a disk that has this zoomex software which i use to adjust the lighting of my shots. thank you, sara.

That is cool how you did the background and lighting. Thanks for explainig...I was wondering too. He sounds like the PERFECT pet! I have two fish right now ...they came home from my classroom right now. But when they go, I prob. will not get any more...

@espyetta - i was told fishes are the best pets and am aquarium is one of the best things you can have at home, as the sound the water makes is sort of a mental relaxant. i can't have an aquarium. i get freaky because a scene from an old movie in the 70's called "the silent partner" would always come to mind. :-) but you might be too young to remember that. :-)
