okay, i'm going to talk again about how crazy the weather is/was here today. cold, windy and miserable this morning as i walked to the subway. by the time i got to the office (inside of 25 minutes) sky was cloudy, but the sun managed to get through. before lunchtime it was snowing like there was no tomorrow. we can't even see the building across from us. on the highways, there were several accidents because of the blizzard-like conditions. by the time i went out and took photos at lunchtime, it was cloudy and grey but otherwise okay. something's definitely going on with the weather.
in any case, i didn't know what came over me but i was just snapping away at anything that's bright red. trucks like this one and one of our canada post's trucks, signages, cars. when i checked what was today's prompt for the challenge, surprise! it's 'red'.
i chose this truck, though, because i like the coca-cola red. i'd have wanted a fire truck, but there was none around. this guy, he's not parked, he's stuck in traffic on bay street. he wanted to turn right but the car ahead of him was a nervous nelly and couldn't decide if he was going to mow down the pedestrians or just outright park right there and get a ticket from the cops.
when he passed by me, he had to stop but yelled at me,
"why are you taking a photo of my truck?"
"because i can," i yelled back.
"you can't take a photo of me."
"i'm not taking a photo of you."
"but i saw you aimed your camera at me."
"flatter yourself, pal! i took a photo of the truck."
"you can't take a photo of my truck!"
of course i can take a photo of his truck just because i can. and i wanted to. plus they're getting free advertisement right here on 365.
Your story is hilarious! What's his deal that he doesn't want his pic taken? Must be wanted by the police or something! Jerk. Great SC! It looks cool! Off to grab a drink......of Pepsi. They like their pic taken ;)
lol if he saw the picture, he'd realize you can't even see him in the truck!! Funny! And I like how you made the flags (and a few other spots) red too! I'm definitely seeing red now.
OMG . . I love this story!! I wanted a "shutter setting" photo for class and chose to have a coke truck that was leaving (so I could catch the wheels moving) a store. I waited and waited and waited for that driver to take off. But he sat there and I know that he saw me waiting with my camera from our car. Finally he took off but went the other way so I couldn't get the pic. I think he knew and that he didn't want his photo taken either. What if it was the same guy?! LOL This is a wonderful shot, summerfield. We think alike . . glad that you stood your ground. I would have too. :)
@russianblue - thank you, kass. hope you guys had a good drive, and coming back, too. take care.
@slang - even when he stopped in front of me and yelled at me, i couldn't even see him. that's what i was thinking, probably wanted by the cops. no, don't drink, pepsi; grab a beer instead! but not now, it's early in the morning. :-) thank you, sean.
@olivetreeann - there was another truck behind him which was white and red - the opposite of his truck - which was for diet coke. but i had to crop it off as i would be too busy. plus @espyetta is trying to wean herself off diet coke, i didn't want to remind her just in case she sees this. :-) thank you, ann.
@karenann - i can't believe it! seems like it's almost the same person. but coke is very thorough with their employment checks so one wouldn't think these guys are crooks. maybe doing something illegal to earn extra money? they probably thought we were coke's spies! but my p&s is too big for me to be inconspicuous - it's a you-can't-hide-it camera. neither is my little nikon coolpix, it's small but it's neon blue. if you were sitting in your car with that big camera of yours, then you probably look like a detective! yes! hahaha! thank you, karenann.
@steeler - wow, howard, oh, my goodness, i didn't even notice the motorbike at the end. hahahaha! it's like a "duh!" moment for me. i was so absorbed with my yelling match with the driver, that's why. thank you, howard. you are so sweet!
@russianblue@slang@olivetreeann@karenann@sarasdadandmom@elaina047@steeler@alia_801@myautofocuslife - if you watch or familiar with the situation comedy "the big bang theory", there is a 'voice' character there, howard horowtiz's mother; howard and she are always yelling at each other. you can imagine me yelling to that guy a-la-howard's-mother by the time i yelled "i'm not taking a photo of you!" because i was really annoyed. hahaha!
@summerfield Lol ..its one of my favourite sitcoms ... obviously Howard is a good name to yell out ...there was a plate glass mirror add that ran on the radio for years out here, well before the big bang theory and there they too yelled out HOWARD...i hear there' another shouting Howard add on at the moment.
We have freaky, ever changing weather too..just warmer over all. and no snow. We are having a "cold snap" of low 50 degree weather right now. And, you just have to taunt a girl who has given up diet soda (and never did let myself drink "real" soda) with this pretty COKE truck, huh? :0)
@espyetta - dangit! you came! :-D believe you me, if red wasn't the prompt yesterday that would never have been posted. trulily!
anyway, back in high school, i was the 'coke' girl. the first taste tests begun by pepsi came to our school. they couldn't get me to make a mistake. i don't know why a lot of people cannot tell the difference between coke and pepsi, but i can. a few years ago in san francisco there was a pepsi taste test and just smelling the stuff i could tell which one was coca-cola.
@summerfield :0) I remember the taste tests. Not sure I ever did one. Which company did them....Coke or Pepsi? Do you like Coke or pepsi the best? I like Diet Pepsi and Pepsi One so that makes me a traitor to the South and to Atlanta! Haha
pepsi always did the taste test. one of my close friends, who is a coke girl married a guy who found work at pepsi. apparently employees can't be found having coke at home. so what they did was they would buy coke and pepsi, drain the pepsi and pour the coke in the pepsi bottles. pepsi never stood a chance. i've stopped drinking coke a long time ago, even before i came to canada. and if there's nothing else to drink but pepsi, i'd rather die of thirst. how's that for brand loyalty eh? eh?
Love the vibrant red and the conversation with the truck driver! I have yet to try street shots as I am a bit intimidated by possible confrontation but you may inspire me yet.
@beba8162 - it's easy mostly. just start with aiming your cameras at store signs or top of trees and buildings. or if you are in a place where there are tourists, for a start, you should volunteer to take their photos. when they see you have your camera, they won't hesitate to ask you. then ask if you can take their pics with your camera. and you're set. thank you, roberta.
@sunnygreenwood - well, i would hope so, too. i've posted the photo so he can just suck it up! hahaha! thank you, anne.
@cscecil - i was pissed and nervous at the same time as i didn't want anyone to tell me to erase what's in my camera. but i stood my ground by yelling back at him. thank you, CS.

@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy.
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian.
