my writing nook, these days is in the living room by the window beside the radiator. the rad has been turned off because of the warm weather, so i can put my books there, otherwise, i stay away from it as it could get really hot. my old computer table has a pullout shelf for the special keyboard when i still had a desktop. now it is where the laptop gets parked and the phones and other computer related things such as mics and external drives go on the main desk. the wireless printer is on the right. the writer is behind the camera, not writing obviously.
we close the blinds in the evening as we don't want anyone who ventures into the property parameter to be peeking in. our unit is in the sub-ground floor, meaning we're halfway below the ground, which is nice during the summer because we stay reasonably cool and hence no need for an a/c and still get all the sunlight all day year round. the rad also serves as my 'studio' when i have to take photos that i post on 365.
I love your little "niche!" It's so neat and clean. I have paper, books, etc. scattered all over mine. Now hubby wants a new computer and more mess in here. Ah well . . he deserves it. Your home is very light, airy, and lovely. Nice capture.
What a great little corner for yourself! It looks cosy with the books and photographs and potted plant. It must be really cool there when you have no need of a/c in the summer. I always have the standing fan blowing at me when I'm at the computer. Every day of the year. Awesome shot, I enjoyed seeing your little writing nook. 8)
@karenann - thank you, karenann. the mess is right behind the camera - piles and piles of books and newspaper! but this corner, it has to be orderly or i won't be able to stay there, as i tend to bring the laptop to the bed.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. it is nice. it's comfortably cool like most basement apartments, but with lots of sunlight.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. yes, i've seen those types. but i just wanted something that is light so i can move the desk, especially when i'm cleaning.
@bkbinthecity - hahaha! thank you, brian. it is the only place in the household that is neat. the laptop, when not in use, is stowed away and the keyboard tray where it is in this photo is pushed in, then the checked cover is placed over it. the rest of the household is like armageddon. when i have to talk to friend on yahoo or skype, i turn the laptop facing the radiator so they don't see the mess behind me. hehehe.
@alia_801 - why, thank you, alia. much appreciated.
@myautofocuslife - thank you, livia. it could get damp in here, being halfway down the ground. the de-humidifier is constantly on to control the dampness so we stay cool but not damp-y cool. in the summer, when it gets really hot, then we use the fan.
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, ann. i had to pick up the few toys that got left on the floor by my young grandson. or maybe i should've left them for the photo!
nice shot and such a nice, neat area. that was one of my issues with malcolm being home - i do my work in the living room but while he is at work. hard to switch gears and concentrate in new surroundings or to share space and still think at the same time with all sorts of other things going on around me.
@steeler - yeah, that writing is interrupting my photography hobby :-) thank you, howard.
@catsmeowb - a long time ago, i bought my partner a pair of those wireless headphones so that when he is watching his sports, i can work in peace. nah, didn't work! hahaha! thank you, camille.

@jannkc - thank you, jann. it's okay, though.
