the last one and it was the most problematic of all. pourquoi? i just couldn't get the right size to trim it from the original. then i discovered that in the canon software there is an option where i can specify the exact size of trim i wanted. how long did i have this? just about a year and a half! summerfield, duh?!?
so in my bookshelves, the lower part where there are doors, i forgot that i keep in there this vase from sweden that a friend from long ago gave me. it is white porcelain with green pattern. but it was kind of dull against our friend the radiator so when i went out jogging tonight i passed by the general store and lo and behold they've one last bunch of long stemmed sunflowers. but i needed to cut them really short or they would be higher than the top of the radiator.
and that's the end of my vertical lines slash horizontal line challenge. let's check out how they look in the calendar view. yay! do you like them?
thank you, my friends, for your views and comments. i sincerely appreciate your kindness. now, onto your albums.
Ok, I had to look at your thumbnail - & you nailed this challenge I think. The whole thing looks visually interesting.
This is a great shot as well. Love the lines in these shots too
The sunflowers look absolutely fabulous in that vase! Love their colors! (Are sunflowers expensive there? Here, each stalk costs at least $5. For that amount, I can have a hearty lunch.) Thumbnails are looking beautiful. Fantastic job. 8)
Wow! Your thumbnails look stunning, and this is one of my favourite pics ever! The colours of the sunflowers are beautiful and the contrast against the metal radiator is quite stark :)
@lesleyallen - thank you, leslie. i feel sad now that i've removed my little set up by the rads!
@myautofocuslife - thank you, livia. this only set me back about $7 plus tax. it's more than what it costs to buy a large size bubble tea! guess i'm not having one today!
@steeler - thank you, howard. and fortunately, it being summer, the radiator isn't on. :-)
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i think i love this photo, too! it's so visually engaging. i checked and everybody's line thumbnails came out really well. this was the hardest challenge ever but it was all worth it. thank you for putting it together.
i look at all the different ones and it is so difficult to say which one i like the best - each day i want to say - THIS ONE! - they are all so beautiful. for me, though, it is the green platter. this one is stunning, but the emotions tied to the platter do it for me. lovely shot, gorgeous colors, and love how you describe how you did this. great end to your week!
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. the platter was purely accidental. actually, i had four things that i planned to include in this vertical challenge but i was just not into them during the week. so from the fourth day, everything was impromptu. i'd be turning up everything around the apartment and then in the end i'd settle for something that's there on the counter all the time.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. and to think i struggled thinking how i was going to do this, then it ended being such. thank you, too, because your observations sort of guided me to make the right decision in including the subjects.
sometimes that ends up being the best shots, i have discovered. you know how when our minds are distracted with something and we go to bed, wake up and discover our brains have solved the problem overnight? i think that is how impromptu shots like this work, too. it is your brain knowing "you" but you are too busy to stop and think about it. look how your week turned out - organized, beautiful, makes wonderful and perfect sense.
This is so successful, I have watched it develop with awe. I'm in Santa Cruz and can't upload right now but have taken hundreds of pictures of where my kid is moving for school
Congrats on finishing the task. Looks awesome on the calendar view. Great capture of the flowers too. The color really pops against the white background.
