this morning after breakfast, we took little ivy jean and his older brother jack to the museum (with the parents, of course). jack enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit tremendously. afterwards, when they were browsing at the gift shop, i heard a loud "lola! lola! loooooolaaaaa!" and there was jack holding a stuffed toy dinosaur, his mother trying to catch him saying 'no, jack!' he handed the toy to me and said, 'i really do love this dinosaur, lola.' so, what did lola have to do, with a sweet talk like that, and despite partner saying he already bought him a dinosaur fridge magnet. come on, kids don't play with fridge magnets. so lola is out $22.
they had to drive back to london (ontario) and i wanted to maximize what we paid for my ticket so i stayed behind and took in the entire exhibits. my favourite place was the "museum of mineralogy" where i found this raw calcite rock with triangles. the exhibits are quite stunning.
this ends the 'shapes in black and white' week for the thumbnail challenge. two days more and it's august. i enjoyed doing this challenge. and if you are so inclined, we have one coming up in august. the details are here: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13676/awesome-august
the beauty of this challenge is that there are sub-themes each week. you may join in on the fray for the entire month or for one of the weeks, whichever suits your fancy.
thank you, as always, ladies and gentlemen, for your views and kind comments. i truly appreciate all of them.
What a gorgeous piece of work here!! Love those textures and the awesome lighting. I thought that it was a gorgeous piece of ice at first glance ...great capture! Lovely in b&w!
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. hahaha! he also loves to hear my stories. he and ivy find it funny especially that i try to ham it up and they both couldn't stop laughing. ah, the joys of being a once-in-a-while grandma.
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. they grands enjoyed the museum and according to partner, before they drove off, jack said he would come back soon and little ivy jean was wondering where lola was.
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian. yes, among the hundreds i took just at that exhibit alone. :-)
@steeler - thank you, howard. and fortunately, this is the last one of the b&w!
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. it was a little bit difficult because this was behind a large glass cabinet which caught all the reflections of the overhead lighting and more.
Nice triangles! The week really looks good. You certainly found a wide variety of triangles and the b/w ties them all together very nicely. Great shot!
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. the museum trip yesterday provided a lot of triangles and now i wonder what i'm going to do with those photos.
@pandorasecho - thank you, dixie. i love this rock and didn't realize about the triangles when i first saw it. i think i will post the coloured shot in my blog.
sorry i am late in commenting on this photo, i saw it and kept meaning to get to it - soooo beautiful. really like how you filled your entire shot with it, made for wonderful composition and your information included is so interesting. malcolm, doing surface mining, so enjoys learning new things about minerals. he would be at that museum for hours on end.
Great finisher. Beautiful pov, tons and textures. Like how the lighting really brings out the angles. Congrats on another great accomplishment. Enjoyed this a lot.
