i've never seen a live flamingo bird before and then i get to see not just one but a stand. the flamingoes i've seen before are plastics, in fact they're still in the gardens of a few houses around my area. but these flamingoes aren't pink, they're actually deep coral in colour. this was taken last tuesday at the zoo.
it's interesting to watch them. they actually bark at each other and then lock their necks. i'm not sure if they're fighting or flirting.
i got myself a membership at the city's zoo. great place to go for birds and butterflies. i actually almost got a shot of a hummingbird that kept poking at a glass cage, the poor fellow. when i had focused on it, that's when it realized the way out was up. drat. but the flamingoes make for better subjects.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i thought so, too. a single entry is $25. but a membership for one person is only $70. so i thought it was a good deal. and i have a garden to go to for free near the office.
so cool.....i am so intrigued by them too....but never seen one live. Looking forward to more animal pics since you have a membership now! So interesting about their movements......sometimes it IS just a fine line between fighting and flirting......lol
@slang - thank you, sean harry. glad you could come by, too!
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry.
@sticksandstones - thank you, kiddo.
@claireuk - the neck's as good as a leash! haha! thank you, claire.
