We have lots of what I think are house martins here at the moment. I haven't been close enough to capture one though. They are flitting about all over the place. Love your picture.
@koalagardens Swallows don't usually sit on bushes. It's more usual to see them on telephone wires or similar. This one was nesting inside some public toilets just behind me and he and his mate spent a lot of time sitting on the guttering on the roof of the toilets - not a very photogenic location.
@phil_sandford I don't think so Phil. He and his mate seemed to be quite healthy. See my reply to KG above.
@rosiekind Thank you Rosie. You would LOVE Skomer. It's a bird watchers paradise. Visitor numbers are very strictly controlled so it's unlikely to suffer too much from human activity.
@judithdeacon Thank you Judith. It is unusual isn't it (see my reply to KG above). Yes I did enjoy Skomer, it's one of my favourite places. I've been a few times, in all weathers and it never fails to impress. Each time we go we see something different.
@chimfa Thank you Jane. House martins are incredibly difficult to capture. The only time I've ever known them stay still for long enough is when they're feeding young in the nest.
