Goldfinches Braving the Storm

It was unbelievably wet and windy this morning. The rain eased off a bit and suddenly there were birds on the feeder at the front. I don't know how they didn't get blown away. The feeder was swinging all over the place in the wind and nearly all of my photos were very blurry. I struck lucky with this one, it's not quite so bad as the others and I caught the feeder when it was straight.

In spite of wind and rain you managed to take a nice picture of these lovely goldfinches.

@gijsje Thank you Bep. You wouldn't believe how many blurry photos I had to discard.

@gillian1912 Thank you Gillian. It was taken through the cloakroom window, through the raindrops on the glass!

@koalagardens Yes they must get really hungry when it rains for hours on end. One wonders how long they can last without food.

I wouldn't imagine they can go terribly long as they have such rapid metabolisms and tiny bodies :)

@koalagardens I always worry when the rain goes on for hours. At least they’re not feeding chicks.

A lovely photo showing the blustery day...that little goldfinch is quite tenacious...he wants to feed at his favourite place regardless....
