I'm still obsessed with these wonderful animals. This morning we spent another few hours watching the trainers work with them. They are really amazing. They are working with one dophin to teach him to choose when to quick working. They're pairing completing a session with an iPad looking square that hangs in the water. If he doesn't feel like continuing a session, he is being taught to go over and touch the black screen and then he gets to quit. Another dolphin, we learned, prefers ice and toys to fish as a reward for work. We watched him get to play with a basketball to his heart's content -- no trainer, just Hoka hanging out with his ball. He even tossed it up to people on a bridge over his pond so they'd throw it back. I feel so lucky to have seen this.

Like you I absolutely adore dolphins to. When we stayed at The Mirage hotel in Vegas, I went down to sit by their dolphins every morning. When kids were running around the dolphin pool the dolphins would do the same and bob up to 'see' the kids. The laughter and realisation from the kids that the dolphins were actually interacting with them was incredible to watch
Wow how cool is that, that you can see how they get trained!! they are so smart and just love them doing their tricks!! Beautiful capture as well, perfect timing with the fish!
Stunning capture Taffy!! I adore dolphins too - fabulous animals!! One of the most exciting things was when I was on a boat in Doubtful Sound NZ and as we went into the fjords a pod of dolphins came and swam alongside the boat for ages - leaping and dancing in front of us!! I nearly died with excitement!! LOL!! Fav for my favourites!!
Perfect timing. I was fascinated by what your wrote about the dolphin preferring ice and toys to fish. We all love them and it seems they touch all of our lives in some way once we've seen them.
