Excuse my diary entry and bragging! This was voted by the Photocrowd Community as the best out of 681 entries in a 'Before and After' challenge. My other entry came 240th, so was in the top 50%
Whilst I was in Hobbycraft this morning, getting some mounts for photos I'm entering into a summer fete competition, a lady asked me where the bias binding was located. I replied that I had no idea what bias binding is. She looked most annoyed, then she realised my sweaty, dirty gardening clothes (I'd been weeding and been to dump three years' worth of wine bottles- well it looked like that many) wasn't the staff uniform!! Well I thought it was funny and when I passed her later she was looking at cards of thin cotton stuff!
Every reason to be chuffed. A great before and after.
We will talk bias binding when I next see you. I feel that it is something that you need to know.
Just noticed pointy stick at the top - seems to work well.
Oh this is really brilliant Jackie, You are so talented with all these before and after's! I could never do this, but I have used bias binding very often in my life ;-)
Well worth the accolade Jackie a Fantastic capture after all your hard work. I Love how you presented it and the use of the specs makes it Hilarious. BIG FAV
FAV it would’ve been so wrong for them to not make this the winner! No surprise to me at all and proud to know you. Such a creative and clever concept and amazing execution!
@stimuloog bias binding is a fabric tape that has been cut on the bias of the fabric, as opposed to the straight grain, and is used to finish many different types of sewing projects.
Excellent choice for " the best of/" Jackie well deserved & congratulations. Love those glasses too.. Love your humour & I must add I have used bias binding many times. ha-ha.
Thank you all for allowing me to bask in your praise as I showed off and celebrated. Having a partner in crime to prompt and push me made doing this even more fun!
Even more excited to see it on TT and that's all down to you THANK YOU ❣️
This is just fantastic! And fantastical! And wonderful -- I absolutely love it! Congrats on TT -- I want to know more about how you did this with the glasses staying in place!
@taffy oh my!! thank you for your fantastical enthusiasm, it wasn't that difficult really and for glasses staying on the arms had a hair band hodling them a together
Tis is what I did
Pin taped to a long bamboo pole
Camera set to burst ( I'd already checked focus etc)
Very ( very!) High iso
Fastest shutter speed camera could do
THEN... as my remote doesn't work 😞
Press shutter, then stab balloon, stop pressing shutter ( then cross fingers!)
But when @wakelys (thanks Sue, really really chuffed and yes we must!!) and I were working as a team I pressed the shutter then said 'go' to Sue to burst the balloon and stopped shutter when water all over the garden! Good luck looking forward to seeing yours!!!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond A belated thank you! I'm saving your directions and thinking this could be fun to try when my nephews are visiting. I really did love the outcome -- soooo much fun!
