Shades of Yesteryear...and Doesn't it Look Fabulous!
This morning Ken and I met friends at Don the Beachcombers Restaurant where they were holding what was billed as an International Market. The vendors had everything from tropical to "tiki", and the atmosphere of the restaurant suited the mood sublimely! The event seemed to have a cult following as most people were dressed in their tropical garb & men wore fedoras and Panama hats. Hawaiian music being sung and danced in the dining room in an air of pure authenticity! Out in the parking lot, there were some wonderfully restored cars...and one, just plain old, but a deliciously rusty and battered old Ford truck...all begging to be photographed. It got a bit tricky to dodge the surroundings that didn't suit the mood, but in the end, Ken said he liked this best, so, "Look what I got you for our anniversary, Ken!" I know it's a frivolous choice... It probably won't fit in the garage!
When Marnie left a ccomment, "Where is the Fonz?" my mind started playing the song..."Sunday, Monday, Happy Days...etc" And it fills the 100happydays-bill because we had such a good time attending this "retro tiki market" for the first time with all the tropically-fun people and photo ops!
@golftragic@tjchapa Thanks for the fave Marnie & Julie! I went to great lengths to get the rest of the parking lot out f the photo! The Fonz youd have been a great addition, but he'd have had to wait in line behind everyone who was looking into the open windows! (How nice of the owners to leave that for us!)
Fabulous car and you photo does it such justice! You even caught the twinkle of light in the big chrome bumpers. Now those were the days of big beautiful shiny silver bumpers! Nicely captured!
@Weezilou I don`t agree. The small(A) class cars in Europe don`t .
For example : the new Mini. Fiat 600, Renault Twingo, and Ford Ka.
Although we love those cars We call this kitsch . Or Rock and Roll .
But time have gif him a second chance in Holland. Now we love them and call him an American Classic.
I know this car very well as one of a ex brother in law did drive those as a cab in those day`s.
Great capture of this beauty,
(I did n`t get down to take those pic.`s I lifted the pot it`s growing in.)
@golftragic There were a couple of security guards minding the lot...and I think this was a contingent of people who would have great respect for anything people brought to share, Everyone was admiring the cars!
@amandal@duncasaurus@cocobella Thank you to you new visitors! WIll return to being more attentive to my visitors with those much appreciated faves and comments, once were settled for the summer in the Canadian Maritimes...
