As we emerged to get some fresh air on a short loop along the fields and tracks near the house. Weather was definitely a game of two halves today. A belter of a windy rain storm blew around the house all night and well into the morning. As the day went on, the rainless periods increased and we got some sun and the odd rainbow.
Late lie-in before Dave spent a good hour preparing a halloumi brunch on the unfamiliar aga. Short muddy and puddly walk during one of the few sunny spells and we enjoyed views north from our ridge (no wonder it had sounded so windy) spotting the Glastonbury festival site nestled down below.
Afternoon of Bananagrams, a swim in the pool by the farm, and a lie-down as I was finding a headache hard to shift. Too much eating and not enough water probably.
Anna drove us to Baltonsborough village hall for Blowzabella's post-New Year get-together - postponed from last year. Quieter than it's been before - it can get very packed - but a few old faces including A, L and S from Bath.
Lovely dancing, music (including a revival of Glass Island and Carl Wark) and atmosphere but my headache continued and I became more queasy after a sedate 5 time waltz, so sat out most of the second half other than a bourree with Jane S.
Went straight to bed on returning.
3 good things
1. The veggie bacon we tried at brunch wasn't half bad.
2. We timed our walk perfectly - finding one of the only short periods of sunshine. We'd only just stepped back in the door when it lashed down again.
3. A gig postponed due to last year's COVID surge and seeing people not seen since before 2020.
