At the craft fair in Woodford, a plant sale had this really pretty clematis for a good price, so snapped it up. Taking a break with mum over a big cup of Pimm's.
Mum called early to say she'd slept better and was up for the craft market. Once she'd arrived, we got an Uber rather than take all the buses.
Nice little market with stalls inside and out, a raffle, popcorn stall, Pimm's stall and hotdogs and snacks. Mum bought jam, a candle and some nice cards.
Outside I found my clematis and we enjoyed the Pimm's and homemade cake. There was also coronation quiche on sale and I thought I'd try it - absolutely delicious, the tarragon subtly adding something quite different, and I'm not usually a fan, can be quite overpowering. Bought a couple more slices for mum to take home and for Dave who loves tarragon. I also went up the church tower for great views over the surrounding city and beyond to green hills. Entertainingly, the tower noticeably wobbled from side to side when the bells rang.
Got an Uber back to sit in the warm, flowery garden with tea and later a gin, apple and calvados cocktail. After a rest upstairs, I went out and brought back fish and chips - the early evening still sunny. Watched Kindergarten Cop, an old early 90s Arnie blockbuster. Dave had never seen it. Very entertaining and of its time.
3 good things
1. Still a fresh breeze, but absolutely loads of warm sunshine.
2. Fernanda the fox was sleeping under the arbour, although I unintentionally disturbed her not realising she was there
3. Beautiful flowers out in the garden: alliums, irises, gladioli and lots of weeds for the pollinators like white dead-nettle.
Enormous garden
