Posh purple turnip

October rainbow challenge - Week 1: Natural World - Sunday: Purple

I forgot to check what these actually are at the greengrocer's stall at the farmer's market - some kind of beet thing I thought - Alison T has kindly suggested kohlrabi which looks about right, but preferring her 'posh turnip' option.

Yes Kohlrabi. I love that stuff. Purple is giving quite a headache. Not sure if I can come up with four of them...lol

@elzibell - yes I know, it's a tricky one - my extra challenge for week 3 is transport! So I'm not sure how I'm going to find a purple car or train or bus or something (and pink will be an interesting one too!)

@boxplayer Well that is a tough one but keep an eye out for bikes. They come in all colors and transportation could also mean a Matchbox car maybe?

@rich57 - yes am doing the October rainbow challenge which is basically a ROYGBIV type thing - one colour for each day of the week (but pink and purple instead of indigo and violet). But I've set myself my own extra challenge of theming the weeks - so this week just gone was Natural World, next week will be Manmade World, week 3 Transport, and week 4 People ...

Oh, how cool! Apparently, carrots used to be purple, too, before the Dutch developed the orange version that we know nowadays.
