Kaimata Cheese Factory by dkbarnett

Kaimata Cheese Factory

On Sunday afternoon we were attending a function at the Kaimata hall. This is an old derelict cheese factory. For those who read my story of the murder in the family 100 years ago, this cheese factory was one of places where they ran to get help - it is very close to the house where the murders happened. The men who were working the night shift at the cheese factory ran to try and put out the fire.
Wonderful capture of this abandoned factory. Always a shame to see these old buildings falling into disrepair.

Where's your story...? So curious!

The old factory provides a tangible link to that historic tale you told. It must be odd for you to actually see the sites involved in that family trauma.

@islambad I'm not sure how to give you the link, but the story is in the egg photo from 17th July
@littleconnie So much of that is around Taranaki. All the small dairy factories are completely uneconomical and now we have the great big conglomerates that take milk from most of the country. I guess the same thing happened to this cheese factory.
@jgpittenger @moonmtn Thanks for commenting.
@robz Yes it is a bit strange to think of all the human drama that happened in that place so long ago.

Argh! I need to go and read the story. Thanks for the reminder. The building looks so tired now. Makes for a cool subject though :)

Your processing really enhances the look of dilapidation :)
