Sturt's Lake by dkbarnett

Sturt's Lake

Sturt's Lake in the Corrobinnie Depression. Very salty and very shallow. The contrast between the red soil and the white salt was remarkable although not so evident in this photo.
This looks so good - especially with all that water. I had to Google where this was - it's a part of Aust that we haven't visited - it looks like it better go onto the "to do" list for our next long trek. Did the water have a pink tinge at all -it's a bit hard to tell from the photo. Often the salt lakes can be very pink. Did you enjoy that area?

@robz Loved the area - really loved all the Kangaroos, emus and even wombats! The lake was lovely - and no it didn't have a pink tinge, but that could probably have been more to do with the early afternoon light. I loved the outback landscape.

So interesting -- the pinkish tint conveys what you are referring to. Sounds like a wonderful place for viewing animals too.

@taffy Yes you are right - the mix of the red earth and white salt.
