Fiordland Crested Penguins by dkbarnett

Fiordland Crested Penguins

From the Wildnerness Lodge we were taken on a short trip and then a walk within the Whakapohai Wildlife Refuge where we saw of these penguins. They are endemic to New Zealand and breed along the south-western coasts of the South Island as well as on Stewart Island / Rakiura.
Well found and captured

I hope they are thriving with the warming of the climate. I saw a program on climate change that was talking about penguins. Some were doing well because the food source had improved further north because of warmer waters.

@randystreat I hope they do OK. They are the third most endangered penguin in the world.
