This really was a challenge for me! While I felt that many of Brunelli's images were dark- in tone and nature- I found his style unique and different. I wish there had been more wildlife in my backyard for this challenge, but alas, I was limited to whatever showed up at the bird feeder. Mrs. House Finch is featured here- generally a very sweet looking lady but in Brunelli's style, she looks a bit sinister! Thanks for picking someone who stretched my imagination and skills Kali! It was fun to dabble with this.
@kali66 This might not be as aggressive as some of his animal shots, but I liked thinking about how the processing would work so that it had the same mood as his style.
Hi Ann. I had to Google Brunelli to see what you were aiming for. I found his images a bit aggressive and depressing but interesting. I think you have done such a good job of producing an image in his style. :)
I googled Brunelli and found some of his animal photos depressing--a dog that looks rabid, a dead mouse and a dead frog. Your Mrs. House Finch may look a little grumpy, but she is not depressing. Good job making an image in his style but more cheerful.
Thank you Zilli, Rob, Katy, Joan, Suzanne and Diane! Yes, he was an interesting choice. Kali had said if I couldn't get an animal shot to check out his water reflections. They were interesting too but I felt he was more known for the animals so I stuck with that.
For me this is an interesting discovery. I like this style, although it is a bit dark. I noticed that my editing style depends on the mood in which I sit down to work. When I'm depressed and something is bothering me, my editing is sad and disturbing. When I am happy, editing is also joyful. Photography is the mirror of the soul!
Thank you Zilli, Rob, Katy, Joan, Suzanne, Diane, Diana, Hannah, Joanne, and Corinne. I'm not sure I'll revisit his style in future bird shots, but it worked for this one.
