Melaleuca Bark by onewing

Melaleuca Bark

Thanks so much for putting yesterday's scribbly gum collage on the PP, it is my favourite tree.

Today I am posting a triptych of my second favourite tree the melaleuca, commonly known as paperbark.

I just love the different patterns and the papery feel to the bark.

We have a melaleuca in our garden although this series of shots was taken in woodland during our walk at Lemon Tree Passage a couple of weeks ago.

some lovely ones there Babs

Is this what they call "paper bark"? I was fascinated by how spongy the trunk was when pressed

Someone brought them to Florida and it nearly ruined the Everglades. Their bark is cool, though.

I agree, melaleuca bark is always interesting to look at, I love it.

@danette There is one in the street outside my house. It makes it hard to grow stuff in my garden because it sucks all the moisture out of the soil.

Interesting bark, but they have been wrongly planted where I live.

@helenm2016 Yes Helen it is paper bark.

@casablanca I don't drink beer so I should be safe. ha ha.

@princessm We have a melaleuca in our garden and it doesn't suck the moisture out of the soil here or damage our other trees or plants. Maybe you need to fertilize your garden.
