I have been to the cinema today to see The Good Liar with friends and then out for lunch. A movie well worth going to see, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
On the way back to my car I spotted this beautiful flowering gum, don't know what actual variety it is but I just loved the colour.
Even though there are still over 110 bushfires burning across New South Wales at the moment there aren't any close to where I live and it is so nice to see a blue sky again.
I really do feel for the people in the bushfire areas though and there doesn't seem any end to it at the moment either. Still no rain on the horizon.
This is a beautiful fiery flower....it’s name doesn’t seem to suit it at all! It must be so terrifying to know there are Bush fires not far off you.....you wouldn't dare lay your head down at night. We pray fir rain.. thanks for the film recommendation too.
What a beautiful flower - it looks like it might be a W.A. native? I just googled it and it is from W.A. Apparently it used to be known as Eucalyptus ficifolia but they didn't mention why its classification was changed. It's gorgeous!
Corymbia ficifolia
@pusspup Thanks for identifying it for me. There are quite a few flowering here at the moment.

@robz Thanks, yes just checked it out and it is indeed a native of WA. We have lots of them here at the moment and they are a long way from home.
