Another street artwork spotted in Mayfield a couple of weeks ago on our way home from Adamstown.
This artwork is by artist Kristi Bain. Kristi is based in the Lower Hunter Valley and her interest is mainly in rural lifestyle, plants and animals.
I just love this artwork and even though I could do nothing about the car parked in front of it, I think the car does give the painting a sense of scale. I did consider removing the car in Photoshop but decided against it.
Wow! Great mural. I like the car there. Make me think about whether having that big eye looking over the car would make me feel safer or a bit on edge.
Fabulous shot and piece of artwork. You have some very talented artists there. I hate cars in the way so I would have removed the white car and left the other one to give the sense of scale.
@happypat It is commissioned work. All the street art in and around this area is commissioned. A few years ago there was a Hit the Bricks event in Newcastle where street artists around Australia were assigned a building and asked to create a work of art on it. Last year there was another festival called The Big Picture Fest and I posted some of the artworks from that earlier this year. I think this artwork was part of that event even though it is in Mayfield and not the centre of Newcastle. We do like our street art in this part of New South Wales.

I am beginning to agree that it looks better with the car there. The picture looks like animal CCTV guarding the cars. The street art does overlook a car park.
