Gee, I think Madonna is a walking worry as she appears gaunt & pained in her appearance though I know nothing of who she is or more appropriately was. I expect she was as pictured an interesting person of note.
I think Madonna here is a walking worry as she is gaunt with a pained expression to her face, her walking forward isn't quite a stride as much as a fatigued slow step, a stride would be wider. This is only my perception of what I see, knowing nothing of Madonna . She must have been a person of note to which I am quite ignorant.
Karen - you do know of her - here 'Madonna' is used to refer to a sculpture of the Virgin Mary and I think your analysis of the statue is perceptive. (I found that the word Madonna has other archaic meanings.)
