I like this pose that swans adopt prior to starting the hissing!
Quite a bit of processing needed to bring out the detail in the white feathers in this shot taken with my little Lumix and I'm interested to know from any users of more sophisticated cameras such as CSCs whether you would be able to take this type of photo and present unprocessed? Or suggestions on my settings?
Great processing. I find lots of white or lots of white difficult to capture without lots of experimentation in manual to stop the camera for looking for grey midtones
Using a grey card - or similar - and setting your exposure accordingly before you take the shot. Then the camera meter isn't fooled by thinking the predominance of white is an 'average' scene - which means under-exposure and grey white feathers! Like snow, too.
Lovely shot Hazel. You have brought out great detail in it. My way of doing easy processing is to shoot in RAW format. This allows you to change things like the white balance, brightness, and just about anything else on the computer.
I was wondering if I could get this result with a better camera with no processing at all?! (Always looking for perfection - a fruitless quest of course!!)

Thank you - fav appreciated, Tony.
Thanks, as ever, Gerry, for your enthusiasm for my shots.
Well spotted - I was hoping it would fall off - but no luck!
