Bomber Command by quietpurplehaze

Bomber Command

Further along the cliff at Beachy Head is a recently erected memorial to the men of Bomber Command who flew from here during WW2.

On the other side of the memorial, erected only in 2012, the following words:

"For many of them Beachy Head would have been their last sighting of England."
Another sombre scene.

I really like this memorial Hazel.....somehow more personal than the magnificent London one. You could really relate to that & the lovely words. A place to sit & think of fathers, husbands, brothers & loved ones.

@happypat

It's in a beautiful location, so high on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Ray discovered it - you have to divert a bit from the main path. He's always going off and finding things! (Centuries ago I think he would have been called Christopher Columbus!!)

@quietpurplehaze Good for Ray, the best bits are always in obscure places!

Lol Hazel.... I think Ray is Christopher Columbus reincarnated...LOL. Great memorial. WW2 was a sad time. Well, I guess all wars are sad though.
