looking for love

this bird, methinks is a crow, landed near me while i was surveying the waters at the beaches late this morning. i was talking to it (i should stop doing that, a boater had a smug smile on his face when he saw me talking to this bird; he probably thought i've lost my marbles!) and it just kept 'crowing' as if we were having some kind of repartee. partner couldn't believe when he heard me having a conversation with this bird. when i said 'goodbye' i heard it made a sound and partner said 'he's saying good bye to you, too!'

actually, i think that he was just doing a mating call and no one was responding to him.

the clouds hadn't set in yet and the sun was still shining bright when i zoomed in to take this shot. he was all quiet and still while i tried to focus on him. i don't know what kind of tree this is but i like the details against his black plumes.

update: i went back there this afternoon at sunset and there was a guy who was trimming some of the nearby hedges at the yacht club. he confirmed the tree is a pussy willow tree.

It looks like a pussy willow tree to me - -and I'm glad to know you talk to birds. It's always good to be able to talk to our fellow creatures on this earth!! (and if people don't make fun of that, they will find something else, so give them something good to laugh about -- !!!) Great close up of Sir Crow!
