the first time is always sweet. not talking about first kiss or first date - not lucky in that department :-) - i meant first watercrown shot. it's not as spectacular as those that you'd find around here on 365, but i think this is a decent shot. i think it has to do with how far the spout is from the water surface. but i got a few decent shots and a lot of obscene looking ones as i've said last night.
and that's one item off the bucket list. yay! i'm not so keen on doing this again unless it's part of a challenge.
thank you, my favourite folks, for stopping by and commenting. i appreciate them big time.
Beautiful .... give yourself a "crown" for this lovely capture. Look at all the teeny drops dancing around this. And love the red color ... very cool. You did it! I haven't even attempted one. Did you use a tripod? I don't suppose that you had to tho ..you had good shutter speed. Spectacular job.
@karenann - thank you, KA. i had to use a tripod because i had to focus on where the water is going to drop and i only have two hands. hehehe! even then i was white-knuckling the camera and i'd catch myself so i would relax. or try to relax. i admire the people who post shots like this so often. this was definitely hard work.
Oh yes ... no doubt about it. These aren't easy! Partner should have worked with you and dropped the drops! :) But even so, I would use a tripod like you did. You did fantastic.
@beba8162 - thank you, roberta. if you have a 'buddy' it would be good. the simplest tutorial is by a gavin hoey. what i got from these tutorials is that you don't really need the equipment they have. i had a small lamp directed towards the water drop and then i used the flash. i might try this again but during the daytime so there's more light and not use flash. also if i can have someone to hold a stick on the spot where the water drops so i can focus on it better, it would be great.
@karenann - partner wasn't here. plus he actually makes me tense so it's best i did this on my own, at least for this first time. next time i more or less know what i'm doing so he can be my buddy. hehehe. thanks again, KA.
@jannkc - why, thank you. i'm not really happy with it. when the second push comes, i wish we'd be paired. then you can give me an easy push and i promise to do the same, bearing in mind your baby's still out for repair. :-)
Awesome crown Summerfield. Like color in this too. What did you use to get that? I've always noticed that my crowns always come out fat and short. Tanja @tanja-1211 said the trick is to release the drop from a higher height, and use very little water on the surface. Gives those nice thin tall crowns. Gonna try it soon myself. Glad you were able to check off another photo off your list. Whats next for the wild woman of the north?
@losthorizon - i did this in my kitchen sink. the flash made the stainless steel sink dark. the pink is one of the grandsons' toys when they used to like having a bubble bath, they use it to scoop the bubbles. there was a yellow one. i also tried to use one of their yellow rubber duckies. i have one sphere with it inside! the green one from the day before, i bought a plastic picnic table cover, cut a small portion and spread it around. i will have to try tanja's tip next time. next on the list? do you know how to do the light painting? i'd like to try that. in processing, i'd like to do one of those levitation shots. i have to branch out a bit, i'm getting bored with my photos already. thank you, beau.
@lesleyallen - amen to that! thank you, lesley.
@steeler - thank you, howard. have you seen alia's @alia_801 post for today? :-)
@crickle1969 - thank you, chrystal. glad you think it's awesome because it was quite difficult to do it.
@moonshadow - thank you, moonshadow. it was a lot of effort to do this.
