there was this family at the beaches today and the father was teaching his daughter how to fly a kite while her mother was busy flying her own tinker bell kite.
the kites reminded me when i was a young girl back in the old country when i would play with the street children with a kite i made with my school pad paper and my mother's sewing threads; we were so poor so i had to resort to other resources to have a kite. the neighbours would laugh at me as they watched because i was the only child running with my slippers on while the rest of the group ran barefoot. but my mother would never let us walk around without our slippers. she once caught me running barefoot and instantly i got pulled to the side (through my ear, mind you) to give me a dress down.
Beautiful capture of such a memorable scene for most of us! My Dad made kites out of old newspaper! I thought that they were so beautiful ... we never got the "store bought kites" either. My ability to get photos these days are limited with my awkward "boot." Very depressing. Add extremely cold weather to that and it almost wiped out most of my inspiration. Have missed you alot, my friend. Thanks so much for your very kind comment tonight ... wishing you and partner a very Happy Easter.
Beautiful childhood memories Ms. S and all those running around during summer time barefoot and playing with the neighbors. Climbing trees, hide and seek, play tag, hopscotch.... This next generation will never be able to experiene the same priceless fun we had. Sigh! Loving that tinker bell kite here btw.
Beautiful scene to bring back your memories :) Pretty kites too - mine always got tangled with someone else's and mum would spend all evening trying to untangle them!
lovely story -- and I admire your ingenuity!!!! (My mother would not let us outside without shoes -- and we lived in the country! Never went barefoot as a child! Was afraid to as an adult for a long time -- hahaha!)
