colour as a thing-in-itself, we could think of colour as a subject matter itself, rather than simply as a characteristic of subject matter, so says freeman patterson in his book "photography and the art of seeing".
"Red is the color that most attracts attention. Surveys show it is the color most frequently associated with visibility, proximity, and extroverts. It is also the color most associated with dynamism and activity. Red by a large margin is the color most commonly associated with seduction, sexuality, eroticism and immorality, possibly because of its close connection with passion and with danger." - wikipedia.org

for the get pushed challenge, my partner this week, emmy walden @dixon challenged me to "photograph the color red!"
i was planning on strawberries but the grocer near me said strawberries are now "out of season". i do have frozen cranberries but i would have to fish them out of the deep freeze. rummaging through my cosmetic bag that had been collecting dust in the bathroom i unearthed this blood red nail polish that i brought with me from manila two years ago and which i've never used since.
a double for this shot.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are much appreciated.
@dixon - thank you, emmy. red velvet background reflected on a small mirror. i was so happy the colours came through naturally after several adjustments and trial shots. i decided to crop instead of a large red picture with the nail polish and lipstick stuck in the middle. a little bit harder than black on black and white on white.
@sarasdadandmom - glad you like it, my friend. thank you.
@abhijit - thank you, ab.
@lafish - thank you, laurie.
