cloé bernard by summerfield

cloé bernard

tonight, my friend cloé bernard and eddie paton launched their first CD together titled "rendez-vous" which is a collection of new songs mostly penned by them and their friends. i, along with some of the girls at the office, came to give her support.

a reporter from a montréal newspaper had just interviewed her when we arrived. cloé came to me to tell me that the reporter's camera died. the reporter talked to me that if i could get him a few pictures prior to their printing on sunday, that they will give me credit for it.

i was quite nervous as i decided not bring my tripod (that i keep at the office) as it was quite heavy. also, i have a problem seeing and focusing in the dark. so when i took a few practice shots i switched to auto (shame!!!) and used my external flash for the first time. ugh! washed out and the photos still turned up blurry.

i was about to give up when i remembered that the lens have an autofocus function. then i decided i'd switch back to manual but cranked my ISO to 1600 and ditched the external flash. then i found that if i could really really be patient (and quick on the shutter) and wait for that split second when she's not moving i could get a good shot. in the end i got eight really good shots, including a close up of her, out of 75 shots. i'm going to offer the newspaper this photo and another closer shot.

if you are so inclined, please check them out at www.rendezvous-cloeandeddie.ca. she has a beautiful voice and i'm not ashamed to tell you it's worth paying $20 for the CD.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
What a great close up

Lovely capture, love that "Mona Lisa" smile. I will definitely check out the website. I hope the newspaper will be true to their word and credit you.

I do think that the ISO is so important in some circumstances! I wish more people would put down their choice of settings! You were put in a challenging situation but you sailed through it! Well done!

What a great opportunity to be published and get credit, but also to learn! I always drag my camera to concerts, but with the low lighting and constant movement on stage it is really hard to get good pictures....I like the B&W....gives it that jazz club feeling...
