What if, somewhere in the universe, there is another you? What would you say to your other self?
On the night that a second Earth appears in the sky, 17-year old Rhoda Williams learns she is accepted into MIT to study astronomy. She celebrates with friends and gets drunk and drives into a car at an intersection, maiming its driver, John Burroughs, and killing his family. Being under-aged, her identity was withheld from John. After serving her sentence, she goes to see the now recovered John offering to clean his home. They become friends and eventually intimately close. A millionaire entrepreneur sponsors an essay contest offering a civil space flight to the mirror Earth. Rhoda wins the contest and tells John the real story about the accident. John kicks her out of his home, but Rhoda leaves him her ticket to the other Earth so he could see his family.
"Another Earth" is a 2011 movie which won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

i suppose for convenience and simplicity of the story line, the premise of the movie ignored the effect of gravitational tides, etc. of having such a big planet nearby.
this image is a composite of three photographs, all taken by me. the earth image is actually a large ceiling lamp at the ripley's aquarium.
i am filling in for Jeff Walker over at mad hatters' and this was my posting. no need to comment.
This is an awesome image! I love how you have put it together! I also love that you explained how you got that shot of the other earth because I was really going to be impressed with your traveling skills AND your photography skills!
@grammyn - yes, it was kind of difficult to take a photo when I flew the space shuttle sometime ago; i was rather busy at the controls and a comet was chasing us. then a dinosaur appeared out of nowhere with some cryptic messages that only a spider can understand but i crushed the spider when i saw it so i just had to run away from the darn dinosaur which actually just looked like a ginormous german shepherd that smelled like it hasn't bathed in a long while. so what can i do, it was the will of the gods and the will of the people! :-)
@bill_fe - of course, you do. you might be next. tonight, i'm posting something for katy and hopefully i won't run out of steam like last night and would be able to write a long story-telling-a-lie to go with the post. so watch out for it. but then again, i have a five plus two shot that i want to do so maybe i will do that tomorrow if i don't forget. @grammyn
