In the car park welcoming us to our hotel. Never seen a white one before.
Saw S and N off to catch their plane home before a half day working from home. After lunch and packing, got the overground to mum's to pick her up but things went seriously awry after that. I ran out of data on my phone and the Vodafone app wouldn't let me top it up.
Cue 45 mins of chaos as I tried to order an Uber to take us to Dave's work. I had to keep running back up to the 6th floor to use mum's WiFi as the driver didn't arrive. Turned out he'd gone to the back of the flats and couldn't work out how to get to the front. So had to order another Uber. This one thankfully arrived though we were now running late and it was heavy traffic a lot of the way.
Drive from Dave's work was very straightforward though and we arrived at the hotel, complete with a whole herd of peacocks and peahens before 6. All very posh and organised. Ground floor rooms with accessible bathrooms, so handy for mum. Though we did have to make her an impromptu step-up using chair cushions as the bed was so high.
I went for a swim and use of the steam room and sauna before dinner. This was very good - elegant room, nice Sauvignon Blanc and a three course dinner: caramelised onion and goats cheese tart, halloumi burger, and cheese board for me. Dave had scallops, sea bass and cheesecake whereas mum had the burrata, chicken and fruit salad. Port and Sauternes in the comfy bar after.
Got the news that H had had her baby - very cute pictures of little Idrees.
Good things
Mostly all other than crappy Vodafone.
How beautiful. Like the bride and groom all rolled into one. There used to be a white peacock at Oakvale Farm close to us, but all the peacocks have been moved from there now.
