Hey kids... I think it's time to do a check in and clean up the list a bit... there've been a lot of comings and goings recently, and while i think my tracking system has been working reasonably well (a few glitches aside), confirming the list would be helpful...
so... please let me know if you want to remain on the list... if you don't want to be on the list right now, that's fine - you can always get added back in when you're ready...
i'm tagging everyone on my current list...
if you're not on the list but want to be added on, just post a reply below letting me know...
also, and i expect i'm opening up a can of worms here, if you have any suggestions for improving the format of the challenge, please let me know!
i'm in, because i'm a sucker for punishment. since we are opening a can of worms (ewww!), i've had 3 partners in the last two months who pushed me and i accepted and responded to their pushes but they never accepted or responded to the push i gave them, with no apologies whatsoever. what to do? just sayin'.
I would like back in- I agree with @summerfield though on the amount of people who dont respond to their challenge. It seems if you want to play you should give it a go or respond that you cant take it on. Not anything you can do but those playing can.
I think I'd like to be "in" -- but I'm kind of new here and not sure what this is all about. Sounds like it might help me develop some skills though, and I'm all for that. Can somebody tell me more?
@samchale Basically you are paired with a partner each week. Your partner browses through your photos and tries to find something that you haven't tried, or a style, genre, type of photography that you don't yet have and then poses a challenge for you. You then take the week to try and come up with some photograph in response for that challenge. Could be a lighting technique, or maybe trying portraiture if you do mostly landscape, still life. Something like that. Could even be a theme that they'd like to see you interpret through your photography. You can do one or a whole week's worth of responses. Then you tag your photos for others to browse, as well as someone to choose what some of the best photos to choose for a vote. You in turn would do the same for your partner issuing a challenge to them.
It is a lot of fun and sometimes very tough for any number of reasons. A great excuse to make time to try some photography you may have wanted to but haven't for some reason. Give it a try and if you don't like it you can ask northy to take you off the list later. :)
@northy Please keep me in I am loving this. As for suggestions, sorry I don't have any I think the format is good for now, and thank you again for setting this up and dealing with the craziness. :)
I'm still in! I'm loving this. The format seems to work pretty well from what I can see, as long as it isn't too much work for you. I've only been doing it for three weeks and I haven't had any problems. My partners have all been wonderful.
@summerfield ok - in the grand scheme of things, it could be worse... i say their loss... but they gave you a challenge so you had something to do... and while it would have been nice if they'd checked back in and did the challenge you put to them, i'm not sure it's the end of the world... but happy to hear other opinions...
@jsw0109 ya gotta let me know when someone goes MIA... even if you're content to suffer in silence (;D), think about the disappointment of the next person... if someone goes MIA i remove them from the list until they ask to be added back in...
@judithdeacon this should not be an issue but you'll need to let your partner know if they give you a challenge that is beyond your equipment's ability to handle... many of the challenges have nothing to do with what kind of camera you have...
@summerfield I did accept your challenge.... I just failed miserably. I didn't see the point in uploading a shot of a splash, drop, or ripple when the challenge was for a crown. :(
Northy, please keep me in. . .even when the results are way short of stellar I really enjoy the pushes! And thank you (seconding everyone else!) for taking the time to care, manage and organize all of this! You're just GRAND. @northy
@lyno oh but I have! twice! and almost 3 times (that Rembrandt lighting was very hard, but I finally managed to succeed on the last day) I actually thought this week's challenge was really hard. Its something that's probably easy peasy for most people, but there's not a lot that looks urban in a rural town LOL
I'm being hammered with various bits and getting stuff uploaded and keeping up with the site has been nobbeled. still attempting to take the photos each day but this i had better bow ot of the challenged for a few weeks.
@summerfield if you are given a challenge you have already done you should be able to ask for a different challenge, no? What's the use of doing the same old "selfie" more than once. Just saying...
I'm leaving on a business trip on Monday that will last all week. I debated about asking to drop out for the week, but I decided that I'll stay in after all. :-) Even if I'm stuck with nighttime only shots because of being cooped up in a classroom for training during the daylight hours, I'm hopeful that I can meet whatever challenge I end up with for the next round.
Thank you so much for keeping us all on track for each week's push!
@northy Please keep me in. I'm loving the challenges as it helps me think outside my square. You're doing great and I really appreciate it. Keep it up. Thanks a bunch xxx
I love the format as it is. We have a whole week to complete the challenge - sometimes we need that times other weeks we don't. I like the fact that these are every week! I like variety so weekly is good.
