Her family (my father's) lived in The Street, Claydon, Suffolk. They moved there to be closer to the school as Betty had a weak heart..... My maternal grandparents also lived in The Street, Claydon and I have fond memories of Back Lane, the location of this photo, as my maternal grandfather used to take my sister and me for walks up there and over the fields every Sat morning. It's all built on now of course.
It is delightful to look at these old snaps isn't it. We have a great many. My great parents had a bakery opposite to a photographer's studio. If she wanted to try out a new camera, piece of developing equipment, stage set or lights, she would slip across the road and ask my family to sit for her. The reward was a copy of the photo.
@wordpixman Yes, Betty definitely grasps life with both hands. I shall have to have a look at Claydon next time tIme I'm in Suffolk, haven't been to the 'village' for ages.
Yes, Claydon is a different place now, although happily still not quite conjoined with the Ipswich sprawl.
