Yesterday, a Winchester market stallholder had two bucketsful of bunches of gorgeous dahlias. By the time I went back to buy a bunch about 10 minutes later, there were only two left so he quickly took the opportunity to sell them both to me at a knock-down price.
This morning I suddenly remembered my dad always growing dahlias in our garden. Curiously, these market dahlias had no earwigs in them.
@tishpics Oh yes they did smell a bit - had forgotten that. Funny, as well as not having earwigs, these dahlias don't have that characteristic smell - something no doubt has been going on!
@doblaine Oh yes, no earwigs, is a good thing but it did make it a bit interesting when my dad brought in some dahlias from the garden for my mum to put in a vase and my little sister and I could jump about and squeal!!!!!!!!!
