for the camera setting challenge - daylight long exposure.
the sun was still way up and shining brightly so i ran three blocks to get a long exposure shot of this 'fountain'. there's just a puny amount of water flowing but i still captured some of it. i love the texture of the brick stones and you can see the bricks are actually wet from whatever little water is flowing around it.
freeman Patterson, in the book "photography and the art of seeing" says that the 'chief difference between photography and other visual media is that when you start to make a photograph you have an already existing object in front of your lens' whereas 'in painting, you start with an empty canvass and you put on it whatever you want.'
Hard to say which is the better way to go. They both have their unique qualities. Now, I'm sure this water is self-circulating. You'd think they'd spring for a little more robust water flow!
@olivetreeann - that's what i was thinking. and to think lake ontario is only three blocks away from this place! it will only dry up after 5 million years! haha! thank you, ann.
I think the water stands out more in this one. Hmm I wonder how it would be with selective coloring with the background B&W? I have enjoyed this latest camera setting challenge.
