warm coral by summerfield

warm coral

we're going around the world this month, taking photographs of things that make us think of a certain country and you folks get to guess which country it is. like this gladiola flowers.

there are 260 species of the genus 'gladiolus', 250 of which are native to the region where this country is located. that's the only clue you're getting. can you guess which country it is?

i came home friday night and found a large package on my kitchen sink. partner saw the gladiola whilst grocery shopping and saw there was ony one bunch with the coral colour, his favourite so he bought them. but of course he didn't know a thing about shoving flowers in a vase so he waited for me to come home to deal with it.

if you want to join in on the fun and go around the world with us, here's how to play: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/19097/around-the-world-in-30-days-september-challenge

update: from wikipedia.org - The genus Gladiolus contains about 260 species, of which 250 are native to sub-Saharan Africa, mostly South Africa. About 10 species are native to Eurasia. There are 160 species of Gladiolus endemic in southern Africa and 76 in tropical Africa.
