last night partner dared me, quite foolishly on his part, that we should get up at 6:30 and head to the beaches for me to photograph the sunrise. because lately i've been in the habit of getting up at 7:30 he thought i wouldn't be able to do it. the bet was that if i didn't get up early, i cannot hound him any longer about sunrise or even star trails photo opps. fine, i said, and off he went to bed thinking he's got himself an easy bet.
well, he's dead wrong. because i actually wake up at 5:30, do some writing albeit meaningless most of the time :-) in bed, check my 365 at 6:30 then laze around until 7:30. so he was surprised that when he checked on me at 6:30, i was dressed, and my camera bag and tripod were at the door.
bit of a disappointment though when we got there. there was a heavy bank of clouds on the horizon that obscured the sun as it rose, so my shots were actually the risen sun rising from the clouds. quite refreshing though to be running around barefoot in the sand watching the glory that we mostly take for granted. there was a man who arrived after me and he had a folding armchair with him, propped it right there by the shore and sat and watched the sunrise. i meant to ask if i could take his picture but he left as soon as the sun was out of the clouds.
this, however, was taken as i walked back to the parking lot. i turned around and i liked what i saw and especially chuffed that the jogger got to the sun's reflection on the water so that it looked like his head is a ball of fire.
thank you for your visits and kind comments; know that i appreciate them a lot.
This is beautifully captured girl. I love how you see the sun rising from the water, while I see it setting into the water...gotta love the 365 and where we all live in the world. Gives things like this such a nice perspective. Well done Summerfield!
So worth it. LOVE this. I'd have joined you. I did about a month of getting up for the sunrise on Sundays and had an amazing time (but got really worn out doing it). Love the figure in there. Fav!
Good for you! I keep telling myself I should get up early to catch the fog in the valley around here. But since I have such a hard time falling asleep so often it's been a bit hard to convince myself to do it! Great shot!
