i had wanted to go for some drama so i used a black background. no dice. i suck at lighting, the bane of my photographic pursuit. and the swizzle in person looked exactly the same colour as the cocktail but i can't quite capture it as i see it, so i'm blaming it on the lighting.
in any case, moulin rouge is a shake and strain cocktail. you put some cracked ice on a shaker with one ounce gin, three-quarters ounce apricot brandy, three-quarters ounce lemon juice, one teaspoon grenadine, shake it about six times then strain into the cocktail glass (here i used a large wine glass just because) then top it up with some sparkling wine. decorate with a cartwheel orange and it's a go. best to drink it with a thin straw.

for my get pushed challenge, my partner this week, julie @julieco challenged me to "either (1) making a still image that includes 5 items with an interesting POV and/or lighting or (2) a food image which could be suitable as an illustration in a cookery book or advert in a magazine."
of course, you know i opted for #(2).
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are truly appreciated. i shall play catch up again hopefully tomorrow. for now, off to bed i go as i need to wake up early to wrap up the grandsons' gifts. yay! we're picking them up tomorrow and will spend the whole day with them. partner and i are really excited and so are the boys!
@sarasdadandmom - very true. but i didn't even taste this one tonight. nor the margarita last night. am not really a drinker, but i just love making these suckers then shooting them. thank you, terry.
