taken from the second floor of the niagara falls welcome centre on tuesday afternoon. the heavy snow you see here was a combination of real snow falling as well as the mist from the falls turning into icy flakes. twenty minutes before this i was down by that protective fencing taking photos and the setting sun was actually reflecting on the river. the weather got worse as the eve wore on.
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
@northy -never seen the weather changed in such a short period of time, all in one small area. thank you.
@678tabby - thank you, june. the rosds near and around it were a tad treacherous though.
@jackie8 - indeed it was cold. other years I just hoppedin and out if the car, this time i preferred to shoot through windows just to stay warm. thank you, jackie.
Oh boy does that look cold!! It must be so interesting to see them in the winter. I remember one shot in the visitor center of a year that the Falls froze. Amazing.
Something compelling about a waterfall. I think it is the power and magnificence. Coming from Zimbabwe it was Victoria falls for us (Mosi-oa-Tunya - The Smoke that Thunders in Shona), I always get emotional when I see it. This with the snow and ice makes it even more awesome. Fabulous!
