photographers are storytellers in their own right and here’s one of the "storytellers" that i personally know. i suppose with 749 followers on 365 project alone, i can categorically say she’s known around the globe.
the stories she presents in her photographs are brief and to the point. her handling of light is uncanny which makes her photographs really pierce your imagination to the core. her choice of subjects is often ordinary yet gritty but consistently come out extraordinarily different and makes one always think “now why didn’t i think of that?” her post-processing abilities are enviably exquisite; she has a photographic and processing style all her own that is difficult to emulate.
i have been fortunate to see and watch her work quite a few times. each time was a fascinating experience, especially after you see the images she captured. the same images that i’d have seen with my own eyes would take on a different personality and perspective when captured by her.
this was taken in 2013 and i had been previously given permission to post, but i suppose i was waiting for an opportune time to do so. this was at a railway track in the outskirts of hamilton, ontario.
you know who she is. see her work here if you haven’t yet. and if you haven’t yet, where have you been and what have you been looking at all this time?
Wonderful tribute to your dear friend and photography buddy!! She is indeed amazing, and has a definite style all her own....I love following her work, and I am thrilled to see her at work.....this is probably the most we will ever see of her face! ;-)
What a fascinating photo and story! It's so interesting to me who willingly post selfies and who wishes not to show his or her face... I've seen northy's name all over 365, but I never had sought out her photos to see. Wow! Have I ever been missing something pretty wonderful! You certainly described her photography beautifully! A good story, well told!
Her camera seems to be pointed straight at you-so do we get to see the picture of you too? Northy is truly and artist and you have described her quite eloquently. Love the shot!
gaaaaaah! blush... squirm... thank you Vikki... you say the nicest things (and you say them so beautifully!)... i never think of myself as an artist or anything particularly special, and i certainly don't have the way with words that you do! anyway - thank you... i am humbled, and, well... kinda at a loss for words...
@olivetreeann Ann - i'll have to dig up my shot of Vikki... :)
To someone who doesn't actually know her, you described her photographic style perfectly. I love her work.
@olivetreeann Ann - i'll have to dig up my shot of Vikki... :)
now about my pic, just remember please to turn it to black and white so they don't see the many colours i wore that day! :-)
